Being questioned about a road rage incedent I know nothing about.?

I wouldn't even worry about this, but a cop called me today to ask me if I was on a certain highway at a certain time, and if a drive a black honda, etc... I do drive a purple honda, but wasn't in that area last night. Apparently someone claims that a person driving such a vehicle threw something out of thier car at this other persons car. The reason I worry is that its obvious that someone has reported my plate #, which is how the officer got to me. He claims that she saw the person and that he will present a photo lineup to her tommorrow...and if she ID's me that i'll be charged with criminal damaging. This is BS. I could have pissed someone off anywhere at anytime and they can claim that I damaged their car? How can they link that damage to me? It seems to me that, absent my saying something incriminating, the prosecutor would have a hard time making that case. The state i'm accused in is Ohio. Thanks.
